Our Outdoor First Aid training courses are delivered through the Expedition Care Program (ECP) a modular programme developed to meet the growing medical needs of the expedition, exploration and travel industries. ECP courses continue where traditional First Aid courses end. All of our courses are delivered by our ECP trainer Scott Smith.
About Your Trainer
Scott holds the following qualifications, International Mountain Leader, Winter Mountain Leader, Kayak/canoe instructor, MTB instructor, Rock Climbing Instructor, Off Site Safety Management Trainer and First Aid Trainer.
A former member of the Parachute Regiment and Special Forces Support Group, Scott has lead over 35 International Expeditions, climbed numerous high altitude mountains up to 6,960.8 meters (22,837 feet) in Europe, Asia, Africa and North America. He has completed the Marathon des Sables, Montane Yukon Arctic Ultra 430 mile race and most recently completed a solo self supported 800 mile crossing of Alaska in winter with temperatures reaching as low as minus 40 degrees.
Scott is a qualified WEMSI Wilderness First Responder with over 35 years experience of teaching outdoor first aid both in the military and in civilian life.
His extensive experience and knowledge of working in the outdoors, along with a lifetime of teaching outdoor first aid brings real context to our courses providing you with a wealth of knowledge and skill from someone who has been there and done it.
Level 2 Venturer Medicine First Aid Training Course - 2 Days/16hrs
This 2-day course is designed for group leaders working in remote areas. This course is recognised by all outdoor governing bodies e.g. MTUKI, BCU, RYA, Forest School etc. and exceeds the recommendations for the HSE Emergency First Aid at Work course.

Course Literature
As part of the course you will also receive a copy of First Aid and Wilderness Medicine written by renowned experts Drs Jim Duff and Peter Gormly, this guidebook describes basic first aid techniques for those travelling in wilderness areas. Deals with fundamentals such as preparation, prevention, first aid kits and provides details on how to deal with a variety of accidents and illnesses.

Assessment: Continuous Assessment takes place during this course along with a multiple choice question paper.
Numbers: A maximum of 12 candidates.
